The latest Make Glove not W.A.R. at Pulltab Sports focuses on why the Twins were smart to stand pat at the deadline, and why I think they’ll win a playoff series (this was written before the last two days).

It’s weird seeing Adam Thielen in a Panthers uniform. Vikings practice against the Titans this week then play them Saturday at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Speaking of jerseys…Wolves unveiled their “meh” City Edition ones yesterday with the help of musician Yung Gravy.

Twins’ Pitching Rights Ship; Division Lead at 4.5

The Twins had lost four straight going into Saturday’s game in Philadelphia, but strong outings from both Pablo Lopez and Sonny Gray have the Twins back up by 4.5 games heading home for 12 of the next 14 games. The last three of those 14 games are against the second-place Indians.

Saturday, Joey Gallo had four hits - that’s a good month for him and still only raised his average to .185 - and Lopez struck out seven over six shutout innings in an 8-1 win.

Sunday, it was Gray’s turn to give them six shutout innings in a 3-0 win, and Jordan Uplow hit his first homer in a Twins uniform since being claimed off waivers earlier this month.

Off Monday and Thursday this week, with the Tigers here Tuesday and Wednesday. For some reason, Detroit gives this Twins team fits.

Loons Blown Out 5-0 in Leagues Cup Quarters

When a team website calls it a “big ol’ butt-whoopin’” you know what kind of game it was. No, Lionel Messi isn’t coming to the Twin Cities, as the Loons got ripped 5-0 in Nashville in the Leagues Cup quarterfinals. Minnesota played down a man for two thirds of the game - it was scoreless at the time D.J. Taylor was given a red card.

The Loons return to MLS action this Sunday at another place that has seen a lot of big ol’ butt-whoopins this year, Citi Field, home of the New York Mets.
