Stanzel’s Sports Takeout — BREAKING NEWS: 11.19.25
Just 48 hours from the Frost opening season three. No other PWHL team has won a championship. It’s an expanded league of eight teams this year.
Pro women’s volleyball is coming to the Twin Cities (twice). Yesterday Major League Volleyball announced a team at The X. Craig Leipold owns. Lot of competition for the sports dollar in these parts from January to April.
GWBB puts a 4-0 mark on the line tonight at Kansas.
The Wild, 6-1-1 in its last eight, plays yet another home game tonight against Carolina. Puck drops around 8:45 p.m.
GMBB Eeks Out Win Over Chicago State
A lot of the goodwill done by playing a close game against Missouri earlier this month is gone after Niko Medved’s team has had to squeak out wins over Green Bay (4-28 last year) and last night, Chicago State.
Chicago State led with less than seven minutes before the Gophers’ class prevailed in a 66-54 win. Cade Tyson, who may be as valuable to his team as any player in America, scored 22 points.
Minnesota plays San Francisco this Saturday (in Sioux Falls).
Wolves Continue to Feast on Bottom Feeders
It’s hard to believe that the Wolves, 7-2 in their last nine, have beaten just one team in the top 10 in that stretch. It was the 10th-place Jazz, and they did beat them twice.
The Wolves overwhelmed an in-disarray Mavericks team on Monday, 120-96. Who could think Minnesota could win by 24 points with Anthony Edwards scoring just 13 points? Naz Reid led the way with 22 points and the Wolves cleared the bench.
Another low-level opponent comes to town tonight, when the one-win Washington Wizards visit Target Center. The Wolves are 9-5.
