Lynx/Liberty in a WNBA Finals rematch tonight at Target Center. The game is on ESPN. It’s somehow the teams’ first match-up of the season, two thirds into the season. They’ll meet four times over Minnesota’s next seven games.

Speaking of league “quirks”, the Leagues Cup begins tonight with the Loons playing host to Queretaro. This is the fourth time in six years of the Leagues Cup that it has a different format. Minnesota plays Club America on Saturday in game two of the group stage.

Twins Trade Paddack and Dobnak; Split First Two with Red Sox

I thought Chris Paddack would be the last Twin to get traded, but he was the first to go. The Detroit Tigers acquired the oft-injured rightie from Minnesota on Monday along with Uber driver turned mostly Triple A pitcher Randy Dobnak, in exchange for 19-year-old catching prospect Enrique Jimenez. Jimenez is the 17th-ranked Tigers prospect; he just finished a season of rookie ball.

Paddack is somehow only 29 years old, and has a year left on his contract. The move allows him a chance to be a No. 5 starter on a sure playoff team, and saves the Twins more than $3 million.

The Twins split the first two games of a three-game set with the Red Sox. The series wraps this afternoon.

Monday night closing in on midnight after a 90-minute rain delay, Brooks Lee’s based-loaded, opposite-field single lifted the Twins to a 5-4 win in the bottom of the ninth.

Last night, something called Pierson Ohl got the start for the Twins made his major league debut and didn’t last until the fourth inning as Boston won 8-5.

Byron Buxton’s mid-section injury has landed him on the disabled list. Carlos Correa left last ngiht’s game with lightheadedness.
