Stanzel’s Sports Takeout — BREAKING NEWS: 7.21.25
The #localangle in the Coldplay cheating debacle is it’s reminiscent of how former Wolves president Gersson Rosas lost his job. We have him to thank for Ant and Finchy, however…
We all love The Open especially when we can’t sleep at 4:30 a.m., but can we agree four hours to play 11 holes is carnival golf?
Loons lost 1-0 at home to LAFC Wednesday snapping a four-game unbeaten streak. They’re at Portland on Saturday.
Wolves finished the “regular season” of summer league 4-0; a lot of teams did. I’m ready to see more of Dillingham and Shannon, Jr.
NHL schedule is out. Wild has six back-to-backs at home, which is better for the players but awful for the ticket sellers.
Twins at Hapless Rockies to Start Second Half
Seeing the Twins at Coors Field Saturday (taking on the 22-74 Rockies) en route to Mumford and Sons at Red Rocks. Twins going with the ever popular “undecided” in the mound. Seems it would be a good day to pitch Joe Ryan…The Twins begin the second “half” four games out of the Wild Card but with series against the bottom two teams in the NL (Washington the other) in the next 10 days. There are 12 games left before the trade deadline. Will the Twins have a new owner (unofficially) by then?
Lynx Best Team in WNBA at Break
The Lynx beat Phoenix at home Wednesday hit the All-Star Break with a perfect 12-0 home record and a 20-4 overall mark that is 3.5 games better than any other WNBA team. The Lynx have played more games than any other team, it’s worth nothing.
Napheesa Collier captains one team at Saturday’s All-Star Game, and Caitlin Clark the other. Clark aggravated her groin injury the other night. Cheryl Reeve will coach Team Collier.
Also worth noting is WNBA CBA conversations are not going well. Let’s face it, WNBA owners are going to have to pay up. Women’s basketball has never been more popular, the league is expanding. Players also have the new 3-on-3 league to make money and to put pressure on the old men who own the teams. So get your fill of WNBA this summer and fall, just in case…
