I’m not as sold as others are on the “soft benching” of Kyler Murray and his hamstring issue. But I’m 100 percent certain they’re not going to “rush” him into being ready. Regardless, you’re going to have a top three NFL QB versus a bottom of the barrel NFL QB on Monday Night Football against Buffalo.
Best Line in Hockey Leads Wild Yet Again
We expected Daila Yurov and Max Shabanov to have breakout seasons alongside Kirill Kaprizov. But John Hynes called an audible a few games into the season, and the results have been spectacular for all.
Kaprizov, Matt Boldy and Joel Eriksson Ek solidified their case for the “best line in hockey” combining for two more goals in last night’s 4-2 win at Philadelphia. The trio hasn’t been on the ice for an even strength goal against - the season is almost a quarter of the way through.
Yurov scored a goal alongside Shabanov and fellow Russian Yakov Trenin. Yurov drew two more penalties - the speedy winger has 10 this season to rank among the NHL leaders. Yurov is one of the main names mentioned in the Dylan Larkin sweepstakes. Honestly, I wouldn’t do it.
Minnesota has points in six straight and returns home for the unthinkable - two games (albeit on two straigh days) - Friday against the Sharks and Saturday versus Tampa Bay.
Wolves Fast West-Leading Rockets Tonight
The Wolves beat an overmatched Bucks team 112-110 on Monday but will face their sternest test without Anthony Edwards tonight when they visit 7-1 Houston, which leads the West.
Milwaukee is 1-6 after trading Giannis. But the Wolves started strong - taking an 11-point lead after one. We got the good version of LaMelo Ball (34 points, six rebounds, three assists, just three turnovers). It was also a great night for Ayo Dosunmo, who had 19 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists.
GBB: Both Teams Begin Season with Wins
The Gopher men began Niko Medved’s second season with an 85-50 drubbing of UND on Monday. Bobby Durkin scored 16 points as the Gophers took control early and never let up. It’s a big game Friday when the Gophers host St. Thomas for the first time as D1 rivals.
The No. 17 Gopher women earned a 20-point win over Harvard the same night. Gracie Merkle (22 points) and Grace Grocholski (20 points) paced Minnesota, which plays at Marquette on Saturday.
