Some Midweek Quick Hits:

From 0-6 to WNBA Semis? The Lynx hosts Connecticut tonight at Target Center in a winner-take-all Game 3. Winner takes on No. 2 seed New York, which was the best team in the WNBA the second half of the season and took…liberties…with the Lynx most of their meetings.

The Twins’ magic number no longer matters (it’s four by the way). It’s simply try to stay (or get) healthy heading into October. One day after Carlos Correa aggravated his plantar fasciitis, Royce Lewis left with hamstring tightness in last night’s 7-0 win over Cincinnati. On the bright side, a second straight dynamite start by Kenta Maeda who could be closing in on Joe Ryan for the third spot in the wild card rotation.

The Wild reports to training camp today with the first practice tomorrow. At long last, Calen Addison agreed to a one-year contract. A long holdout for a guy who spent much of last season in the coaching staff’s doghouse for his defensive play. Lots of upside though for under a million if he can get it together. The Wild’s got even less cap room than last year.

A must win - not draw - for the Loons tonight at the L.A. Galaxy, which has only one team beaten in the West standings. The Loons as of now are only two points out of missing the playoffs.

Not only did the new Minnesota PWHL team get Taylor Heise with the first overall pick, GM Natalie Darwitz picked up her Gopher teammate Grace Zumwinkle in the second round. Interestingly enough, Heise and Zumwinkle have played together sparingly, except for the power play. It’s not for lack of trying. The pair just doesn’t have much chemistry together so it’ll be interesting to see what happens this season.
