Stanzel’s Sports Takeout — BREAKING NEWS: 11.26.25

You may or may not like Pearl Jam (you should), but you have to love ths story out of Two Harbors on Eddie Vedder’s crew sponsoring a “Jamboni.

Wonderful that the Wild and Fanduel part partnering for the first Ojibwe broadcast for Friday’s Native American Heritage Day. However, you need a Fanduel account to stream…seems like this woud have been a good time to throw dollar signs out the window and have the league and network put that on YouTube. The Wild is at Chicago tonight before that game against Winnipeg on Friday.

Vikings play at Seattle on Sunday; could be Max Brosmer under center with J.J. McCarthy in concussion protocol.

Gopher football wraps up regular season by hosting Wisconsin for Paul Bunyan’s Axe on Saturday at 2:30.

See ya on a chilly Monday morning.

Wolves Blow Another One

The Wolves finally lost a game to a team with a losing record, and they did it in stunning fashion. Minnesota led by 10 with three minutes left but fell on the road to the Kings on Monday 117-12, the Wolves’ second straight final minutes collapse. Minnesota had led by nine with a minute left Friday against Phoenix.

This Wolves’ team was supposed to take the next step, returning everyone but NAW. They’re 10-7 almost a quarter way into the season and are plagued by inconsistency, and a lackoff a killer instinct. After carrying this team early, Julius Randle is in a slump.

The antidote for those struggles is not likely to be the 17-1 Thunder. It could be an ugly game tonight in Oklahoma City.

Loons’ Season Ends in San Diego

The Loons were blanked 1-0 late Monday in San Diego, as their season ended in the conference semifinals.

Some questions coming this summer…will Dayne St. Clair re-sign? Will Eric Ramsay return to Europe after rebuilding this Loons team? He was linked to the Southampton Premier League job back in April.

Gopher Hockey

A week after splitting with No. 5 Penn State, the Gopher men face old WCHA foe No. 4 Denver for the U.S. Hockry Hall of Fame Game at Ball Arena in Denver on Saturday. If you’re going, hit up DU hockey bar/restaurant Cherry Cricket.

The Gopher women are off this weekend.

Gopher Hoops

The Gopher men play at a tournament in Palm Desert, Calif., playing Stanford on Thanksgiving night and then either Santa Clara or St. Louis on Friday.

The Gopher women play Alabama tonight in The Bahamas, after beating South Florida 57-45 on Monday in Nassau. Minnesota raced out to a 20-9 lead after 10 minutes and never looked back. Grace Golchoski had 14 points for the Gophers.
