Cue Alice Cooper’s “School’s Out for Summer”.

Top two teams in the WNBA go at it Saturday, as the Lynx look for their ninth straight win when they visit second-place Las Vegas.

The Hurricanes are up 3-2 and sure look like they’re going to win the Stanley Cup with the ageless Jordan Staal.

Knicks try to win the NBA Finals on Saturday. Remember who told you they’d beat the heavily favored Spurs?

Contract extensions for Gophers AD Mark Coyle and women’s BB coach Dawn Plitzuweit.

U.S. Plays Paraguay Tonight in World Cup Opener

The U.S. draws Paraguay in their World Cup opener tonight in Los Angeles (7 p.m. central). The Americans are a rare World Cup favorite - they’re in the tournament because they’re one of three hosts.

Paraguay makes its first World Cup entry since 2010. Emotions will be high on American soil, but I don’t think they’ll reach the height of last night in Mexico City, where host Mexico and South Africa combined for three red cards. That’s just one fewer red card than the entire 2022 World Cup.

Before you go placing $ on the Americans to win the World Cup (they have no shot), remember that only eight total countries have won the World Cup. Even England has only one.

Twins Blanked 11-0 in Series Finale

You have to hope the Twins have hit rock bottom, but you never know.

The Twins allowed six home runs in an 11-0 shellacking in Detroit in yesterday’s series finale. Starter Zebby Matthews, who has come back to Earth big time, allowed three, and seven runs overall in six innings.

The only bright spot is Royce Lewis had his second two-hit game of the series, pushing has average up to .187.

Per Twins reporter Aaron Gleeman, the team has the worst record in baseball over the last 162 games.

Things get no easier this weekend, as the Twins visit St. Louis. Only two National League teams have more wins than the Cardinals. The Twins are 31-39 and only 2.5 games out of last place in a pretty bad Central division.
