Adam Svensson shot an eye-popping 60 for the first-round lead at the 3M Open in Blaine. A five-under 66 wouldn’t place you any better than 17th after 18 holes.

Yesterday was the last Thursday without football until February…

Twins Open Last Homestand Before Trade Deadline

If you want to get a look at the Twins’ full roster, you’d better get on out to Target Field this weekend (Nationals) or early next week (Red Sox), because after July 31 the team will likely look much different.

Unable to make much headway in the Wild Card standings, the Twins are likely to at least trade a couple of their pending free agents, such as Willi Castro, Harrison Bader and Ty France. Chris Paddack is on that list too, but I don’t think there will be any takers.

The intriguing thing is moreso the guys who won’t be pending free agents. Ultimately I think Joe Ryan stays a Twin. They’ve essentially got two closers, I’d have to think Griffin Jax is the one that gets dealt.

Overall, you have to wonder if it makes the Twins more or less marketable in the “selling the team” department with a lower payroll and essentially giving up on the season. Publicly traded companies, their stock goes up when they cut employees, because investors know it helps the bottom line. Does a would-be Twins owner want to come in with four stars and a clean slate? Perhaps.

Lynx Put Perfect Home Record on Line Tonight

The Lynx have yet to lose a regular season home game, and they’ll put that 13-0 mark to the test tonight when they host Las Vegas. That’s the middle game of a five-game homestand that will end Wednesday with a WNBA Final rematch against New York.

In a scheduling quirk, the Lynx hasn’t played the Liberty yet this season. They’ll actually play them three straight games next month. They just played Chicago three times in 11 days…It’s a 13-team league y’all, there’s got to be a better way.

Loons at St. Louis on Saturday

The MLS season gets late really fast after the All-Star Game, and that’s not a bad thing for the Loons who sit comfortably in the top three in the Western Conference with 10 regular season games left.

The Loons, who could conceivably take over first in the West this weekend if things broke their way, travel to St. Louis - a team with four wins in 23 matches - on Saturday.
