Stanzel’s Sports Takeout — BREAKING NEWS: 10.15.26
Monday and Wednesday Takeouts this week, we’ll celebrate MEA break and the fact there’s no local football
Four day weekend without football - be back Monday!
GWH is ranked third and hosts No. 1 Ohio State, which swept then No. 1 Wisconsin last weekend.. GMH faces a stiff test at UMD trying to avoid an 0-4 start.
Loons at Colorado tonight and host St. Louis on Saturday. Still hanging on, mathematically at least, despite no league wins since early May.
Wolves are 3-1 in the pre-season and have their lone home exhibition game tonight against Philly. Ant and LaMelo Ball look great together…
Wild, Down Spurgeon and Storm, Lose 5-2 in Winnipeg
The mid-season injuries are piling up for the Wild. The problem being that it’s only seven games into the season.
Minnesota, playing its second of a back-to-back after a big home win against Vegas, was without Jared Spurgeon and Nico Sturm as the Wild fell 5-2 last night in Winnipeg.
Kirill Kaprizov scored the Wild’s two goals - he’s the first Minnesota player with five goals in two games since Jason Zucker. Kaprizov notched a hat trick 24 hours earlier against the Golden Knights.
Spurgeon missed the game with a lower body injury. There’s no news on severity of that malady. Sturm, meanwhile, took a puck to the ear hold of his helmet in a play eerily similar to when Brock Faber suffered a skull fracture in the pre-season. Sturm was taken to the hospital and will miss some time, but his injury is not as severe as Faber.
The 4-2-1 Wild hosts Charlie Coyle’s Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday.
